I hadn’t planned to press this one, but after discovering “The Cardinal”, I decided to give it a listen and boy was I in for a treat! This album feels like a natural progression for the artist with him experimenting with different time signatures while maintaining his signature synths and sounds.

I’ll be the first to admit that the first track can be a little rough to get through haha. The second track is a fun little ditty, and once you reach the third track, that’s when the album REALLY takes off in my opinion. Pretty sure a large part of the song is written in 5/8ths!

I knew I needed to press this album when I found myself replaying certain sections in my head - the hooks found their way in and they were in DEEP. The second half of “Soil” is particularly lovely, and “Uncommon Botany” is a perfect follow up. I chose “Guiding Light” to start side B as it’s such a fun romp. Again, Shire Oak is experimenting with different time signatures and I believe part of it is in 6/4.

Again, I love this album, and am incredibly honored to have been entrusted to press it to vinyl. Give it a shot! You’re sure to love it as much as I do!
